David becomes an officer in the army
The women anticipate in song that David will be greater than Saul
Saul becomes jealous and attempts to kill David
Saul breaks a promise to David regarding marriage to Merab
Saul sets a trap for David, using marriage to his daughter Michal as bait
David kills 200 Philistines and brings their foreskins to Saul

1 Samuel 19

David approaches Jonathan and tells him that Saul still wants to kill him
Jonathan cannot believe this, but he agrees to find out if it is true
David hides to await Jonathan's report
Saul allows David to be excused on the first day of the New Moon feast
Saul goes into a rage on the second day of the feast due to David's absence
Saul raves at Jonathan and throws his spear at him
Jonathan meets with David in a field and gives him the report
Jonathan asks David to show mercy to him and his descendents when he becomes king
David and Jonathan have a heart-wrenching bout of tears as they part company
