Hi, everybody. I was the secretary for Prayer Canada for two years, until the organization was turned over to a new Director and the head office was moved to Ontario. May God continue to bless that work in Yeshua's Name.
As my employment was ending, I told my friends that I would love to work with a ministry that has Israel as its focus. Shortly after that, I met Ken and Ilene Smith, the Directors of CHRISTIAN FRIENDS OF ISRAEL – CANADA, at church. Ken told me about what his organization does for Israel and the level of integrity that attracted him to it. I was very impressed and thought that I would love to work for CFI, but I knew that the Canadian organization didn't have the funds, yet, to hire a secretary, so I didn't say anything to Ken about this. I just volunteered to build them a website in my spare time.
A few months later, I got to talking to both Ken and Ilene, and I gave them a copy of my book The Moses Memoirs because of their keen interest in Israel. Ilene read it right away and she loved it. Ken really liked it, too, and the following week, they told me that, when they have the funds to hire a secretary, they want to hire me. Yay! My experience with Prayer Canada can be really helpful to them.
Christian Friends of Israel – Canada has charitable tax status for funds used within Canada, so the ministry cannot issue tax receipts for money that goes to Israel, but God never overlooks anything that is done for the Chosen People. If you wish to fund relief in Israel, go to the CFI Jerusalem website.
Many people cry out against Israel for fighting for the defense of its land and its people. They should consider what happened when Balak, the king of Moab, hired a warlock to put a curse on this nation. This was Balaam's reply:
How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied? For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations. Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! [Numbers 23:8 – 10]
Of course, that sent Balak into spasms of fury, so Balaam had another go at it, with this result:
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. [Numbers 23:19 – 24]
God hasn't changed His mind about any of this. His promises to Israel remain, and I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side in this issue. Balak was rather stubborn, though, so he had Balaam try one more time to curse Israel:
How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee. [Numbers 24:5 – 9]
God put this blessing on the nation of Israel. Certainly it applies to His Church, but that doesn't mean that it has ever stopped applying to Israel. This is why the descendents of Jacob did not die out completely when they were dispersed among the nations, in spite of the vicious pogroms perpetrated on them. This is why their language survived and was revived as a spoken tongue. This is why they regained their land and this is why they will retain their land. Now that God has brought them back to the land that He promised to Jacob, I believe that they will never be routed out of it again.
I have a passion to participate in helping Israel's people resettle in their land. I've been praying for years for God to put the infrastructure in place to deal with the influx of Jacob's children returning to their home. I love how Christian Friends of Israel is assisting in helping many groups in various ways, such as holocaust survivors, children who have been traumatized by war, people in need of clothes, couples who are getting married, the elderly, etc.
Check out this LINK to see if CFI is in your country and has charitable tax status. If your country does not have its own CFI, you might want to start up one there. Besides being a blessing to the Chosen People, you will bring a blessing on you, your family, and your nation, for your compassion towards them.
Please make a notation, if you are sending money to CFI after having read this page on my website. Just write "Heard about you from Golden Quill" on a note and mail the funds to:
