The Majesty of God
Chapter One – The Beginning
Many times the question has been asked, "If there is a God who cares about us, then why does He allow so much suffering in the world?" This paradox can be understood only from a cosmic point of view. A huge, complex structure seems incomprehensible when viewed at the base of one of its walls, but aerial reconnaissance gives a wider, more accurate perspective. Let your imagination, guided by the Spirit of God, be the vehicle to take you through Time and Space to the amphitheatre of the Universe, where the curtains part on the Cosmic Drama.
God is Love. Love is friendly and desires to give. God planned creatures to have as friends, to confer His love on, and, if they should so choose, love Him in return. He made a Universe to contain and sustain them. In the various orders of creatures He planned, God deferred the creation of the ones designed for the highest position in His courts until after certain events unfolded that He knew would occur.
Lucifer was the most beautiful of the angels that God made and one of the cleverest.1 He was appointed to be the worship leader of Heaven. Isaiah 14:12 gives his name in the Hebrew as "Heylel,"2 which comes from the root word for praise and the extended meanings of his name indicate that he was lively and ecstastic in his praise of God. The Bible says in Ezekiel 28:13 that music was built into him; every move he made was accompanied by melody. He danced like a tornado in front of God's Throne and worked the rest of the angels into a pitch of euphoria as they sang God's praises. Ezekiel 28:14 says that he was the Anointed Cherub who covers. This passage obviously is not speaking of a human being, but of the demonic power that was behind the figurehead king of Tyre;3 Tyre's spiritual king was Lucifer.
Lucifer covered the Throne of God, and it is possible that this was a shared honour, where he touched the tips of his wings with a partner cherub. I base this on the fact that the Bible describes two cherubim covering the Ark of the Covenant. My reasoning is that the pattern for the Ark reflected realities in Heaven. On the other hand, the two covering cherubims in the Ark's design might be later innovations, part of a new order, after Lucifer was ousted from Heaven.
A born–again prophetess named Kat Kerr claims to have been taken to Heaven in the Spirit many times and, though I do not agree with all her claims, much of what she says seems thoroughly plausible and is supported by Scripture; at the Lord's right hand are pleasures for evermore.4 Kat is wise to warn that we must always test the spirits, in accordance with 1 John 4:3, to ensure that they are of God, for evil spirits can masquerade as angels of light and take a soul to a false Heaven or a false Hell, to sow confusion. Kat claims that Lucifer did not cover the Throne, but rather He covered burning gem stones that are inside of God, and that he could freely go back and forth in this domain, entering into the heart of God.
Imagination that has been soaked in the Word of God is a useful tool for bringing the Bible alive, and we should consider that God does indeed take people to Heaven to show them His wonders because He wants people upon the Earth to know what is in store for them, if we follow Him. He has also mercifully shown people what is in store for those who follow their own self–centred inclinations, and thus be wary of satan's deceptions that would lead them to that place.
Lucifer glittered in every direction because he was covered with precious stones. Ezekiel 28:13 says, "You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created."
Each of the gems possibly represented a certain type of anointing. Maybe his billowing wings were paned like intricate stained glass and resembled a butterfly's, stretched out like a tent. I imagine the Light from the Being upon the Throne streaming through Lucifer's wings (if he had wings), spreading rays of coloured light across the whole assembly and into the farthest reaches of the Universe.
Ezekiel 28:14 does say that Lucifer walked on the stones of fire. Kat Kerr says the stones of fire represent God's love. After Lucifer received revelation about God from walking on these stones, he probably sang about facets of God's Love and Truth to the other angels and taught them God's ways. The fire did not burn him because he was in tune with God.
KAT KERR says that there is a world inside of God where people live as spirits before God sends them to Earth to become human beings. This is not outside of Biblical logic, for James 1:17 says that He is the Father of lights. Before God made this Universe, we existed inside of God as thoughts or ideas; bright ideas. Then we were given a simple form that contained God's plan for our DNA before we were conceived on Earth to fulfill our destiny, and we lived sweetly inside of God as His special children. God's Word says in Ephesians 1:4, "According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love;"
Isaiah 33:14 – 17 says, "The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? He that walks uprightly; he that despises the gain of oppressions, that shakes his hands from holding of bribes, that stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil; he shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks (the stones of fire – the revelation of God's love): bread shall be given to him; his waters shall be sure. Your eyes shall behold the King in his beauty; they shall behold the land that is very far off."
Those who refuse to join with the antichrist, seeking, instead, to fill their eyes only with God, and their ears with His music, their tongues with His words, their heart with His passions, will dance with joy before the Eternal King, and within His heart, totally comfortable in His environment, as Heylel/Lucifer was before he sinned.
The angels must have been in awe of the glory that streamed through Lucifer when he stretched himself like a tent over the Throne or stones and God's light streamed through him. Imagine them bubbling enthusiastically to each other. "Did you see that amethyst ray? Wasn't that glorious? Do you know what happened to the planet Zorka when that amethyst ray hit? The whole orb became covered with grass like a plush, purple carpet, and then the most stupendous plants of millions of varieties sprang up out of its soil, filling the atmosphere with the perfume of Heaven!" We don't know if there really is a planet called Zorka and if those things happened, but we can safely surmise that good things happened wherever those rays hit.
It is likely that, at first, Lucifer humbly received comments about his beauty, replying, "Well, of course! God does all things well!" He was mindful of the caution that God gave all the angels to not look at themselves, because then they would be awed by their own personal beauty and become Self–centred.
It was how God gave them a choice, for they were created to have a free will and to be obedient to God out of love, rather than programmed like androids to emulate a desired personality, mindlessly performing according to set specifications. None of the angels, as wonderful as they all were, had the capacity to know how to do everybody else's job perfectly and the timing of everybody's contribution, so that the whole Universe would continue to flow together in flawless harmony. They had to keep their eyes on their Creator, who is the Maestro of the Grand Orchestra of the Universe, so that they would know what to do and when to do it. They all knew that it was imperative to not look at Self and become distracted by it.
Lucifer, however, eventually became curious to see what everybody else was seeing and exclaiming about in regards to his personal beauty. Because he was so wise and powerful, he figured that he was an exception among the angels. Surely he was strong enough to handle one quick peek. When he entertained the idea, instead of steadfastly rejecting it, iniquity entered his heart, and when he made the decision to disobey God, sin was conceived.
Lucifer was covering the Throne or stones again when he lifted his head, took a quick glance at his glowing back with shimmering streams of rainbow light splintering off of it, and then ducked his head again. The Light, however, that he had been able to look at directly before began to scorch his eyes. In his memory was the image of what he looked like, and there was now a tiny burn of resentment in his heart that he was not receiving the praise, for he was indeed breathtakingly beautiful. Instead, all that praise was for the Great Being of Light who sat upon the Throne.
Perhaps the worship service ended sooner than anyone expected that day. Lucifer would have been relieved. He wasn't quite so comfortable about it as before and he had some things that he wanted to ponder.
1You seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
